I Have to Buy a Few Copies of This to Send to My Communist Friends

OMG. Matthew Guerrieri on Prokofiev's Cantata for the 20th Anniversary of the October Revolution. And yeah - I really do have a few true believer Communist friends.

Thanks for stopping by to see our new grand child Lisa, and for taking the time to leave such a nice comment.I am starting to learn more and more about classical music and of course Elliott Carter from all of the visitors that have stopped by to visit me. It looks like your blog here would be a good one to save for some future views, lots of good reading here... thanks

I have an Elder/BBC SO recording of this that came with BBC Music Magazine some years ago. I once described it as "Mossolovian," assuming any of my readers knew what that meant, and said that it's the kind of classical music that Calvin (of "and Hobbes") would like: considering that Calvin's reaction to the cannons in the 1812 Overture was "Cannons? And I thought classical music was boring!" he would have really liked this one. Machine guns! (or at least the sound of them)
