As a kid growing up in a small town in eastern Washington State, with with a cultural broadcast index of ZERO, late at night I discovered I could tune the radio to a horribly drifty, yet absolutely magical, signal coming from San Francisco's KKHI. Coming through the night air more than 700 miles away, that was half my classical education, really, and a big part of what fired my desire to become the composer that, 35 years later, I still am.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
