Based on your response to Graham, I don't think you would have liked any more than that performance, unless you have a special fondness for Reynaldo Hahn and Mahler lieder- which he sang wonderfully.John Marcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17616296400880495672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8957911.post-55996943085734702012-01-19T15:13:15.012-08:002012-01-19T15:13:15.012-08:00Thanks; helpful analysis! Thanks; helpful analysis!Lisa Hirschhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14014924958428072675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8957911.post-47518584989312960312012-01-19T15:12:15.149-08:002012-01-19T15:12:15.149-08:00Well I did see Friedrich Gulda perform twice, befo...Well I did see Friedrich Gulda perform twice, before and after his 'death'... Programme for the as yet undeceased Jacobs sounds interesting - so much so (looks away sheepishly) I got a little organ nerdy and looked it up. Hmm, a Bach trio sonata sandwiched between Elgar in Edwardian bombast mode? Not that the Elgar has to be like that, but in such proximity to the pinnacle of Bach's organ output... Then again Paul has always liked a challenge. The Boulanger and Demessieux pieces are interesting rarities.Zwölftönerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07582250507195487652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8957911.post-87675456667976195492012-01-19T15:09:23.524-08:002012-01-19T15:09:23.524-08:00Well I did see Friedrich Gulda perform live twice,...Well I did see Friedrich Gulda perform live twice, before and after his 'death'... Particularly unmissable if he's playing Messiaen.Zwölftönerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07582250507195487652noreply@blogger.com
