No no no no no no no.

On her upcoming "rock" album, Renee Fleming will take on Leonard Cohen's greatest song, "Hallelujah."

  1. I think I would rather hear the original at 78 RPM.

  2. I briefly owned Thomas Hampson's Cole Porter CD, or whatever it was. That was the beginning and end of my crossover excursions.

But then, there's always Loudon Wainwright's "Krugman Blues":

  3. My idea of crossover is Ezio Pinza in South Pacific or Bryn Terfel singing music hall songs.

  4. Everyone in the world has sung "Hallelujah," so why not Renee?

  5. Because, seriously, I can sing it better than she can. She phrases in a square fashion and hasn't got the rhythmic freedom to let it rock.

  6. "Hallelujah" doesn't bother me much, but Renee Fleming singing The Mars Volta? WTF!!!
