On top of James Levine's withdrawal from a bunch of concerts at the BSO, Seiji Ozawa has withdrawn from his upcoming Tanglewood appearances, which were scheduled for July 24 and 25. Ozawa is recovering from surgery and other treatment for esophageal cancer, and he has cancelled his conducting engagements through August.
Earlier this week, Levine withdrew from his Cincinnati Opera appearances, where he was going to conduct Die Meistersinger and a gala, all scheduled for June 23 to 26. His first scheduled Tanglewood appearance is opening night, July 9.
Waiting for the sound of shoes dropping and hair being torn out.
