I Don't Think So

If Latonia Moore had less than a days' notice about taking over Aida from the ailing Violeta Urmana on March 3, why did I read about it on Parterre Box on March 1? I'm convinced that the Met told Moore before La Cieca got the news.

  1. Latonia posted a message on FB on Thursday but the Met didn't officially announce until fairly late on Friday. She has been Urmana's cover and was aware that she might be going on (although Radvanovsky sang the previous perfomance) but the Met didn't give her the go-ahead till Thursday.0

  2. I'm only quarreling with Tommasini's assertion in his review that Latonia Moore got less than 24 hours' notice. ;-)

  3. You mean Tommasini got something wrong? And the sun rises in the east. ;-)

  4. I'm taking it as evidence that Tony doesn't always read the opera bloggers who hate him. :)

  5. Actually, I would think it very possible that La Cieca received the news before the Met told Moore. . . .
