The great violinist and teacher died yesterday morning at age 101. His
NY Times obit is here; at NPR, his daughter Nina has
a fond and touching remembrance. He never retired, and as students heard that his kidneys were failing, they flew in to say goodbye. He had them play for him and even taught some lessons on his deathbed.
