Jonathan Harvey
The English composer, whose work I have not heard before, died today at 73. Listening to some of his music on the web, I am tremendously sorry, and hope to hear some of these beautiful pieces in concert.
I'm familiar with some of his music, he's on the more accessible end of the New Complexity axis, but I'd really like to hear his opera Wagner's Dream

It's being done at Welsh National Opera in 2013.
Huh! Maybe I should be planning a trip for next year...
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry to hear of this - he was a wonderful composer. "Speakings" for orchestra and electronics is just amazing, as is "Body Mandala".
