  1. Good for you, too bad there's no Parsifal. Wait, I can't remember if you like that opera.......

  2. Belated congratulations! Fantastic! Yeah, Bayreuth likes to keep you in the dark like that (Though the Tristan cast list is now online).Y ou're not there just to hear a particular cast, right? :)

  3. Henry - yes, love Parsifal. My requirement for applying for tickets (and I got these through the Wagner Society) was that they were doing either Tristan or Parsifal, but not Meistersinger.

Axel, right! It's Stephen Gould, Anja Kampe, and Thielemann, right? Was originally supposed to be Westbroek (sigh....but Kampe is wonderful in a slightly different way her own self).

  4. Should be an interesting Tristan. I'm looking forward to the report of Katharina Wagner's production. And gosh, couldn't the Wagner Society get you any closer to the stage? I suppose if they still had the Tannhäuser, you could have been ON the stage.

  5. Tristan is fortunately one opera where I hardly care what's happening on stage.

The Wagner Society got the seats (two sets only this year) from the Society of Friends of Bayreuth and had no control over the location. Personally, because I am not Patrick, I'd rather be in the middle someplace.

  6. Wow, only 2 sets of seats this summer. Yes, I think Patrick would ALMOST be happy with those 1st row seats!

  7. Indeed!

Terri Stuart told me it's a great place to sit - very immersive - but I prefer a little more perspective.
