To my North American fans, it is with regret that I have to cancel my upcoming recitals for medical reasons. I hope to be able to return before too long and thank you for your continued support.The cancelation includes his scheduled March 10 appearance at Davies Symphony Hall in SF. According to the press release, ticket holders have the following options:
- Exchange your tickets* for one of the following performances:
- Monday, January 27, 8:00pm: Beethoven250: Chamber Recital with Mutter, Choi, Babeshko, & Müller-Schott
- Sunday, March 22, 7:30pm: Hélène Grimaud in Recital
- Sunday, April 5, 7:30pm: Beethoven250: Piano Recital with Yefim Bronfman
- Exchange your tickets for a gift certificate, which can be used at any time.
- Donate your tickets, and receive a tax deduction for the total ticket value.
- Receive a refund for the value of the ticket.

Sad to hear this. He is truly one of the greats. His Bach recordings are unequaled by any pianist ever, I think -- the warmth and humanity of Schiff with the precision and electricity of Gould, informed by a musical imagination that is just revelatory. He's had so many struggles with the physicality of playing the piano -- let's hope he bounces back again as he has done before. I will not ever miss an opportunity to hear him play.
