Various musical organizations have announced when they will resume public, in-person performances:
- LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl and at WDCH
- Seattle Opera
- LA Opera
- Metropolitan Opera (if they can settle their various labor disputes)
It would be nice to know what's happening in the fall, which is....only three months off.
I was wondering about this myself. SFO is usually the first of the international houses to start the Fall season. If they wait any longer ticket sales will be low come the traditional September start date.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking maybe instead of our 1st Friday after Labor Day opening night, the first full opera production in house will be in the Summer 2022. During the Fall 2021 season they may present concerts and recitals to tie them over; hence their delay in announcing. Thoughts?
I think that Matthew Shilvock is extremely cautious. I would be surprised if they do a fall season of concerts and recitals, so I think that there should be an announcement....soon?
ReplyDeleteDo you know whether the WMOH seat replacement project has been completed? Any uncertainty there is likely a showstopper. The last thing I saw a twitter post with a picture on Apr 3 from @sfwarmemorial which showed "progress", but definitely incomplete.
ReplyDeleteTrue! I doubt that the seat replacement project will take through September. I can ask....
ReplyDeleteSF Opera has been incredibly cautious, but this lack of an announcement is worrisome.
ReplyDeleteI have no word on what's up. I guess we'll see.
ReplyDeleteI just got email from SFO that y'all might also have: the season announcement is in two weeks, on Tuesday, June 22, at 4 p.m. Pacific time.
