All sorts of articles and other items on the Web related to the premiere of John Adams's latest, Antony and Cleopatra, at San Francisco Opera.
- Michael Zwiebach, SFCV, takes a look at Mimi Lien's set designs.
- Joshua Kosman, SF Chronicle, listens to a new 40-CD set of Adams.
- Lisa Houston, SFCV, interviews Amina Edris.
- Josh Barone, NY Times, John Adams, An American Master at 75.
- Lily Janiak, SF Chronicle, At S.F. Opera, Antony and Cleopatra are movie stars finding love behind the glamour.
- Amina Edris, In Song episode at SF Opera.
- Register to hear Steven Winn interview Adams and director Elkhana Pulitzer. This is on September 14, so you can prepare by reading lots of reviews of the opening night.
- Nicholas Kenyon talks with Adams (paywall)
- Georgia Rowe, Mercury News, previews Antony
Watch this space; I expect to add to the list above between now and September 10, when Antony opens. I'm reviewing for SFCV, and of course I will have a media round-up after that.
Must mention that a rehearsal photo published on Facebook by Matthew Shilvock revealed two harps, a celesta, and a cimbolom in the orchestra. He must have taken the photo from the lighting catwalk in the Atrium Theater.
