I was lucky to hear the first Sibelius Unbound concert at the Barbican last week including ao. Wing on Wing and Siblius 2. It was absolutely amazing.. As a European, and not familiar with the music scene in Los Angelse, I´d be very curious to know how "locals" view Salonen´s period as a conductor of the LA Phil?
The Second was good. Is Wing on Wing also downloadable?? Wonderful piece, also available commercially.
Mostly Opera, I don't know - I'm from the Bay Area. I'll ask around, but I think he has been an invigorating presence. I wish MTT's SFS programming were as interesting....
Oh, of course you´re not from LA. I ought to have noticed that. By the way, I was actually so impressed with Wing on Wing that I bought a CD with it (Salonen with a Finnish orchestra) right after the concert. I really like those of Salonen´s compositions I´ve heard so far.

I downloaded Symphony #2 from iTunes. It was solidly played and made me wish I was there to hear it. Hearing #s 1 and 3 live was incredible.
