Speechless
Press release from San Francisco Opera announcing a Ladies' Night at the Opera (I added that apostrophe), for the Tuesday, Sept. 22 performance of Il Trovatore. Ticket prices are lower than usual at $27-$150 and the offer includes a wine and cheese reception at 6:30 p.m. It's described as a "social networking event." If you want to buy a ticket through this offer, go to http://www.sfopera.com/offer and enter LNITE10.

The Gockley era is now in full-effect.
Fellas, don't worry! We'll have a special night for you featuring Scotch and cigars (although there won't be a discount, or even a performance, since we're holding it at the Bohemian Grove- I mean, opera is for the ladies, right?)
It's described as a "social networking event."
God forbid anyone should be there to, like, listen to the opera.
Lol and lol!
Sweet Jesus, that's the performance I bought a ticket to! They really ought to warn us if they're going to pull crap like this.
And no one is offering me discounts.
I suppose you could contact them and ask for a credit for the difference!
Uh, wouldn't I have to be a lady to get the discount? Are they going to start gender testing at the ticket office?
"Pat" Vaz. And I hardly think they can deny you a discount, can they?
It's Pat! Uh, yeah, I'm pretty sure they can deny me a discount.
This has left me unreasonably irritated. Well, I hope it's "unreasonably."
Not sure it would be legal to deny you the discount!
It's illegal to deny you the discount, according to CA law (on the basis of gender). However, if you'll note, there actually is NOT a discount on this offer - they're full-priced tickets. Lisa, the $27-$150 price range IS the normal price range for a Tuesday night!!
When is "Cougar Night"?
I'll post as soon as I have the press release.
They must be limiting the seating to certain sections then, since Premium Orchestra is at least $200 on a Tuesday night. So don't get too excited, Ladies!
Ambassador, "Cougar Night" made me laugh.
Lisa --
if you ever hear in advance of Bat Night (and I'm not talking Fledermaus), let me know...
There've been moments at the opera when a bat would have come in very handy.
