- Size of Oil Spill in Gulf Underestimated, Scientists Say. That 5,000 barrel/day estimate you've been hearing since the spill was arrived at using an inappropriate measure, and (surprise) BP has not gone about obtaining an accurate estimate made using appropriate measurement techniques.
- U.S. Decision to Approve Killing of Cleric Causes Unease. "Unease" sounds like a serious understatement: the cleric in question is a U.S. citizen residing abroad, and yet the CIA has authorized assassinating him.

Department of You Don't Say, Political Edition
Today's horrors.
The last item - the CIA assassination - is exhibit A in how the terrorists are winning. Can the destruction of an office building in New York force us to abandon our Constitutional rights? No. But the reaction of a frightened US government can - and now has.
