- Joshua Kosman
- Janos Gereben
- Opera Tattler ("stunning" is exactly right)
- Civic Center ("the performance turned out to be of legendary quality," with great credit to Runnicles)
- I filed my own too-long rave and have now linked to it. A point I did not manage to jam into the review: the incredibly beautiful orchestral counterpoint and rubato during Act I. How I love Donald Runnicles.
- A Beast in a Jungle likes the singing and conducting, hates the production.
- Mlle. La Taupe at parterre box. Um, I admit to some confusion over the reference to leather trench coats in German productions, considering that this Ring is produced by two American companies and directed by an American.

Media Roundup on Die Walkuere, SF Opera
Honestly, I can barely remember the last time everybody agreed about the greatness of a performance. Yeah, there are some quibbling differences, but never mind. (Well, almost everybody!)

Hey, what about me?

Posted after the last time I looked at your blog and surely after mine went up. I'll link to it now. You have a couple of errors in your review, which I'll post in comments there.
Oh Drat! Now I have to go! See what you made me do?
Lovely review, Lisa, it really gave a feel for what it was like to be there.
Seems like a better investment of time than the LAO Ring.....
Thank you, Henry.
I'd love to see the full LAO Ring, myself. Such a beautiful and mysterious production!
Many, many thanks!
The singing was magnificent (there was only one point in the third act that Wotan was not quite audible) the orchestra was excellent, and Hunding's house set was very clever.
I don't know why I hadn't realized before that everyone who appears (except Hunding's posse) is related, either by blood or marriage, to Wotan.
You're welcome!
I think Delavan will run into big trouble when he has to do all three Wotans in a week, but we'll see.
