Was reminded of this thread last night when I was watching an episode of Ken Burn's Jazz. Somebody (Jackie McLean?) told a story about how Charlie Parker often played the country selections in the jukebox of a bar that was a hangout for a lot of jazz musicians. Someone had the temerity to ask him why he wanted to hear this awful stuff, and Parker said, "Listen to the stories, man."
Because Enya falls under "guilty pleasure" relative to my usual musical tastes. Because during a casual look around YouTube, everything by her that wasn't on Watermark seemed pretty insipid. My usual taste runs to...well, non-insipid.
Also, hadn't listened to her in 20 years when I caught the "Orinoco Flow" earworm last week out of the blue.

Let those without a kitschy, guilty musical pleasure cast the first stone. It certainly won't be me.
ahaha! Maybe I need a Confess Here! topic.
I thought about listening to some John Adams the other day.
:)
Seriously, though, I don't believe in the idea of guilty pleasures nor of ironic pleasures. Either you dig something or you don't.
Could be worse- I thought you meant this:

Thankfully, I still respect you.
Oh, good. :)
If you are in the mood to "sail away," you really have no choice other than Enya . . . except perhaps for Styx

Why shame?
Incidentally didn't know 1. that was by Enya or 2. it had a title.
