- If you're wearing black, but the top and bottom are not from a set, for heaven's sake, make sure the blacks match.
- In no event should the audience be able to tell anything about your under garments because of the fit of your outer garments.

The second point is good advice for anyone, anywhere!
Oh....I've occasionally seen women dressed in ways that deliberately revealed a little something (bra strap, a bit of lace) that in the right context are quite appealing. OTHER THAN THAT, yes.
Actually, I like it when the shades of black don't match.
I find it distracting, myself. I mean, it can work, but most of the time it doesn't.
Yes on both counts Lisa- and while we're talking sartorially, another pet peeve of mine are men who wear tuxes without patent leather shoes. That's just wrong, and I'm talking about 80% of the male members of the SFS.
I assume the situation is the same with tails? That's what the SFS men wear most of the time.
And if you're a conductor wearing a skirt or dress, try to make sure your slip doesn't show when you raise your arms.
Absolutely with tails- so much so we shouldn't even have to discuss it!
