Argh: a press release from San Francisco Opera announces that Ewa Podleś has withdrawn from the upcoming Ariodante, to be replaced by Italian contralto Sonia Prina.

Is that for Ms Prina or Ms Podles?
Unless there's an e-mail from them I haven't opened (and I don't think there is), they have not sent this message to their subscribers.
Podles. I got the news in a press release yesterday. Prina can be heard on YouTube and elsewhere and sounds good. BUT STILL.
What a shame! Podles was amazing here in Houston this season in Daughter of the Regiment and Masked Ball. Easily the highlight of both shows.
Yeah - major disappointment here! I fear I may never hear her in person. I don't understand why her career hasn't had more traction in the US, considering the quality of that voice.
