Podleś Out, Prina In
Argh: a press release from San Francisco Opera announces that Ewa Podleś has withdrawn from the upcoming Ariodante, to be replaced by Italian contralto Sonia Prina.
Yeah - major disappointment here! I fear I may never hear her in person. I don't understand why her career hasn't had more traction in the US, considering the quality of that voice.

oh. . . .
no offense to Ms Prina, whom I haven't heard, but . . . oh. . . .
Meh.
Is that for Ms Prina or Ms Podles?
Unless there's an e-mail from them I haven't opened (and I don't think there is), they have not sent this message to their subscribers.
Podles. I got the news in a press release yesterday. Prina can be heard on YouTube and elsewhere and sounds good. BUT STILL.
What a shame! Podles was amazing here in Houston this season in Daughter of the Regiment and Masked Ball. Easily the highlight of both shows.
