Ravi Shankar

The great Indian musician, master of the sitar, has died at 92, in San Diego. He did an enormous amount to bring Indian classical music to Westerners.

I heard Mr. Shankar, his incredibly talented daughter Anoushka and their huge ensemble about 6 or 7 years ago at the Disney Hall. I was easily one the Top 5 concerts I've ever been to, just a mind-blowing night of music.

I've loved his music since 1968, when I heard of him through his association with George Harrison. His albums with great sarod player Ali Akbar Khan are incredible, perfect for late night listening.

RIP Mr. Shankar.
