I'd no idea this was there. I'd have gone to see it on one of my visits. I've been through that station on the Tube any number of times.

It was erected in October, 2004, which is why I didn't see it on my five-week London visit from May to June of that year. During that stay, I had a studio on Sloane Ave. and took the tube somewhere nearly every day..

More critically, if you get off at S. Kensington and head for the museums or the Royal Albert Hall, you/d miss it entirely, because all logical exits for those locations are on the other side of the the station from the statue. One could stumble across it by accident most easily going northwest on Sydney Pl. If you come out of S. Kensington Tube and head southeast, you'd see his back only.
