In other Wagner news, Christine Goerke has withdrawn from her scheduled Bayreuth Festival debut, which was to be as the Götterdämmerung Brünnhilde this summer, when the role will be divided among three sopranos. She is not currently able to appear in productions in Europe with very long rehearsal periods. The Festival's announcement notes that Goerke will appear in 2023 as Isolde in their new production of Tristan und Isolde, and also says that they are sorry about her withdrawal but they understand the circumstances.
Irene Theorin, who was a wonderful Brünnhilde in the last SFO Ring, replaces Goerke.
Yes, I just might take a vacation in Germany in 2023.
