Alice Coote's May 28 performance at San Francisco Performances has been canceled. The press release says this:
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – San Francisco Performances announces that the Thursday, May 28, 7:30 p.m. recital with mezzo-soprano Alice Coote and pianist Graham Johnson has been cancelled.
The cancellation comes by request from the artists as the result of an unexpected scheduling conflict.Unexpected, indeed. Here's what OperaBase has for Coote this year:
I hope it's a command performance for Her Majesty or similar occasion.

The announcement does say that the "artists", plural, requested this. I know it may seem the more likely explanation, but that does leave open the possibility that Johnson played a part in this. It may be that also that the other performance, the one that conflicts, is to be by them both. In short, it seems a little unfair to assume, given the unknowns (which are not Rumsfeld's 'known unknowns' (--:), to promptly go after Coote for this.
Coote has a past history of canceling recitals in SF, I understand.
I know Coote has cancelled at least once before, but she may have cancelled twice with SF Performances. I think she did actually appear at the make-up recital for one of the previously cancelled performances. I did not buy a ticket for this latest event, though.
