And it's at the Met. Nadine Sierra is sick:
Lyubov Petrova will sing the role of Susanna in tonight’s performance, January 4, 2018, of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, replacing the originally scheduled Nadine Sierra, who is ill. Russian soprano Petrova makes her Met role debut as Susanna, a role she has previously sung at Glimmerglass Opera and Palm Beach Opera. A graduate of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, Petrova made her Met debut as Zerbinetta in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos during the 2000-2001 season. Her other Met credits include performances as Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff, Sophie in Massenet’s Werther, and Sophie in Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier. For other companies her roles have included Tatyana in Eugene Onegin with Florida Grand Opera, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier with the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and Juliette in Roméo et Juliette with Nederlandse Opera, Dallas Opera, and Pittsburgh Opera. Sir Richard Eyre’s staging of Le Nozze di Figaro, with performances through to January 19, is conducted by Harry Bicket. The production also features Ailyn Pérez, Isabel Leonard, Mariusz Kwiecien and Ildar Abdrazakov.
