2010 Pulitzer Prize in Music to Jennifer Higdon

For her violin concerto. Congratulations!

(Their server crashed before I could find out the other music finalists, heh.)

Just saw it. I've interviewed Jennifer once and met her on a couple of occasions. She teaches at Curtis, which makes her a Philadelphian by choice (still a puzzling phenomenon for me). A lovely person, and a deserving composer.

Whose server crashed?

The web server running the Pulitzer web site was intermittently unable to make connections following the announcement.

The other finalists were Fred Lerdahl and Julia Wolfe.

She's doing well this year between the Grammy and the Pulitzer! I'm looking forward to the two Higdon concerti coming to Cabrillo in August, with Colin Currie and eighth blackbird as soloists.

Hoping to get to Cabrillo this year, for sure!

Yes, I got the Cabrillo announcement and it looks good. Brilliant and lucky choice to get Higdon: this is her year.

I have the announcement but haven't read it yet - settled for the SFCV Music News item.
