Oh, FACEPALM!

C'mon, Merola - a $12 fee on top of a $25 ticket? That's just wrong.

Maybe they're taking a cue from airlines.

They're taking a cue from sporting events and rock concerts. If it's a local venue, I'll go to the venue and buy tickets to save on the outrageous "convenience" fees. The fact that it's all automated and we're not camping out for three days so a live human being can help us is even more galling.

I can't easily get to the opera house to buy tickets in person, and in this case, the concert was nearly sold out when I decided to go.

Yeah, I understand. I'm going to a Giants game in September while I'm up there and I got sticker shock when I bought the tickets online at the Giants website. $43 for the last row of the upper deck behind home plate + $9 in "convenience fees" per ticket. I really want to go to AT&T Park and I know the tickets are limited because the Giants have a really good baseball team but dang. Hopefully standing room won't sell out for the Andrea Chenier on Saturday. :-)

So when will you be here?

That's crazy for a baseball game!

9/17 & 18, leaving on Monday morning. I really want to go to the renovated MOMA, but I might not have time.
