Apparently Erhard Rom's biography in the Glimmerglass Opera program this year says that he's designing a new Nozze di Figaro for San Francisco Opera. Rom has previously designed productions of Nixon in China, Susannah, and Lucia di Lammermoor that were seen here.
Me, I'll be so very happy to say goodbye to the ugly Zack Brown sets, which are about on par with his Don Carlo sets.

Nozze di Figaro AGAIN? Ugh. How about one of the rarer operas? I hear they have some charms, too.
No idea when it is coming, just at some point in the future. The production they've got is from 1982, so I think it's about time they had a new production.
Oh goodness. Has it been around that long?! It feels old to me because I (must) have seen it 3 or 4 times already. (I've been going since only 2002.)
La Clemenza di Tito hasn't been staged here since 1993. I vote for its return before the next Nozze di Figaro.
Complete agreement about Clemenza! And yeah, that production is OLD.
