The President's Reaction

David Axelrod, one of President Obama's closest advisers, let slip his boss's reaction to Friday morning's news: "What are you talking about? Is this a joke?"

It is amusing that the Nobel committee is more far-sighted than the recipient, but no matter, it is a brilliant move on their part. All the second-guessing of their decision is funny, too - it is their decision to make, and they made it, and it is like the entire blogosphere and mondo pundit started shrieking "But, but, but, they didn't ask ME ME ME first."

The proof of the Obama administration's turn to diplomacy and cooperation — which was rightly praised by the Nobel committee — came on Friday as state department officials, led by Sec. Clinton — were able to settle the last minute difficulties and ensure that the agreement between Turkey and Armenia came though. This is a real accomplishment.

Yes, I was floored to see that - what, the Turks and Armenians are not only talking, they've reached agreement about something?? It's a big, big accomplishment for his administration. Good choice of Sec. of State, I must say.
