How We're Killing People Right Now

Worried about demagogues talking about nonexistent "death panels" in health care reform? think they might be real? Read about how the health insurance system kills people by denying care.

Absolutely. I continue to be shocked about the level of thinking used by those opposed to health care reform in the US. The great irony is, of course, that sinking health care costs and taking away the ability of private entities to make life-or-death decisions (the rationing that really is in effect today) are profoundly conservative issues.

That said, I believe that Obama made a major strategic mistake by not insisting, from the very beginning, that this was no longer business as usual and many actors in the health care sector would have to get by with far less.

Totally agree.

The Times has an article on the hand of the VRWC today that I need to link to. And Krugman has a related article.
